Soul Doctors

I’d been considering how to be a doctor, you don’t need to be big, famous or well known to be paid well and yet to be an artist you somehow always need to be something more and reach further than your local community to be recognised for what you do or be paid a living wage.

And yet actually, artists are doctors, they’re soul doctors. Think about it, when you need a laugh you go and see a comedian, if you need to get your rage out you can go and see some metal + rock, when you want to connect to the softness and story of life you may see theatre or folk and if you just need a good old dance and good time then you can let go and let loose with pop.

There are so many artist’s medicines in this world and yet so many are struggling, expected to work for free and are endlessly giving without receiving enough of what they need back. As a result, artists will perhaps start chasing a part of the industry that will take them off track from the beauty of why art is inherently important and the humility and community behind we create anyway.

Healthcare may be free in the UK but the government funds the national health services. If we want our local art to continue and be free, our artists need the same thing, otherwise it will die with AI and less and less community art experience will be available for our souls and hearts.

In conclusion; fund artists.
